Lucky Supermarket Rolls Out Electric Delivery Fleet with VET
Phnom Penh, 30 March 2026 - DFI LUCKY PRIVATE LIMITED, operator of Lucky Supermarket, is expanding the use of electric delivery trucks across Phnom Penh and selected provincial routes, as part of its ongoing collaboration with logistics partner VIREAK BUNTHAM EXPRESS CO., LTD. (VET).
The collaboration, which began with a pilot programme in December 2025 and progressed to a commercial agreement earlier this year, was formally marked today with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at a ceremony in Phnom Penh, serving as a public announcement of both companies’ shared commitment to advancing greener, more sustainable delivery solutions for Cambodia’s retail sector.
During the successful pilot programme, Lucky Supermarket deployed EV trucks across Phnom Penh and selected provincial routes to support deliveries to Lucky Supermarket stores. Following strong operational results, the two companies entered into a commercial agreement in February 2026 to expand EV-enabled deliveries nationwide.
Since the start of this initiative, Lucky Supermarket has made significant progress in transitioning away from diesel-powered delivery. Under the collaboration, VET deploys its EV fleet to support Lucky Supermarket’s distribution network, enabling approximately 50% of delivery routes previously served by diesel trucks to be converted to EV-based operations by March 2026. Building on this progress, Lucky Supermarket is targeting up to 80% EV coverage by the end of the year.
“Our priority is to continuously improve how we serve our customers – efficiently, responsibly and at scale,” said Mr. Charlie Bettencourt, Chief Executive Officer of Lucky Supermarket. “Electric vehicles allow us to reduce carbon emissions while maintaining the high service standards our customers expect. Today’s signing reflects our focus on practical solutions that support both business growth and responsible operations.”
“This collaboration demonstrates the importance of partnerships in accelerating sustainable logistics in Cambodia,” said Mr. Suo Vireak, Chief Executive Officer of VET. “By combining EV technology with strong logistics capabilities, we can deploy at scale to support commercial delivery requirements while enhancing operational efficiency and reducing environmental impact.”
Mr. Nim Vuthda, Supply Chain Director of Lucky Supermarket, added that the EV initiative has already delivered clear environmental benefits. “Since the start of the EV delivery project, our records indicate a reduction in carbon emissions of approximately 8.3 ton across participating delivery routes,” he said. “We will continue to enhance our collaboration with VET to further improve service efficiency while reducing our environmental footprint.”
This EV-enabled logistics rollout is part of Lucky Supermarket’s broader strategy to modernise its supply chain and enable long-term, responsible growth while continuing to serve customers efficiently across Cambodia. The initiative also supports DFI Retail Group’s broader commitment to reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
